Consulting and Technical Services
Simulation Design Services provide consulting and technical services to clients. We research data acquisition and visualisation technology options that will provide the best solution for your organisation. We achieve this via an Industry Needs Analysis, Feasibility Study, or a more detailed Scoping Study.
Generally, the first stage is to analyse or identify the issue that must be addressed within the organisation. Once this framework is in place, the numerous ‘options’ from providers, can be researched and evaluated logically and against criteria identified in the project brief.
Once these processes are complete, the various options that fit the organisation can be evaluated further. If need be, several technologies may be combined to develop a unique solution.
The system can then be planned, refined, and integrated into the organisation via a formal project delivery plan.
Simulation Design Services works with technology providers to realise data acquisition and visualisation technologies.
Example industry reports and analyses are available in the White Papers section of this site.
A formal Industry Needs Analysis will uncover many technology options. Some are sustainable, others are not.
To find a sustainable solution requires logical and considered evaluation ranked against the organisation needs.
It is easy to purchase a system, but more difficult for it to be sustainable.
Mine Site Data Acquisition
Are you collecting enough data? Modern computer based data acquisition systems can help develop advanced 3D data models that can improve mine site sustainability.
Modern computer based data acquisition hardware and software provide an affordable method for advanced data capture on site.
The age of the digital exploration programme and operational mine site are already here, and generally, the more data that is collected, the more informed and knowledgeable are the operational decisions made.
Data also assists companies to operate within the principles of sustainable mining practices. For example, if your company has an environmental compliance issue that must be monitored and managed, bespoke data capture solutions can be developed that monitor operational activities. Acquiring such data allows mine planning to be improved and streamlined via the comparison of different data sets that may not be obviously connected, but nevertheless, impact on the bottom line.
Placing such data into a 3D visualisation enhances the traditional 2D representation of data by allowing an extra dimension to be added and a more holistic view of the operation to be achieved. External data sets such as commodity prices, exchange rates, operational costs, seasonal variations and so on can be superimposed to produce a sensitivity analysis relating to internal and external factors.
The method can also be used for re-evaluation of operations via the combination of historic mine data, campaign data, geophysical data, geochemical data, and so on, to produce a 3D model that can be used to identify new opportunities.
The system can also be used to develop case studies for various orebody extraction methods and types, and their potential sustainability.
Mine Site Data Visualisation
Combination of 3D data sets into one environment, can provide an intuitive tool for interpretion.
Modern 3D modelling and data visulisation software can provide an affordable solution and allow detailed 3D data models to be built quickly and effectively.
For example, if your company has drill core that must be logged or re-evaluated, it can be costly to access all the core and re-map it after that first core logging exercise. Placing such core in a 3D visualisation provides an efficient tool that can be used to engage many stakeholders with the core via 3D and 2D core images, core logs, assay data, ore boundaries and structural geology. Past geological models and theories can be superimposed, and new and old theories compared. An up to date and realistic model can be developed. Such models can be used for targeted exploration and re-evaluation.
The method can also be used for re-evaluation of tailing storage facilities via the combination of campaign, geophysical and geochemical data, to produce a 3D model that can be used to identify potetnially unprocessed ore. The system can also be used to develop case studies for various orebody extraction methods and types.
Interactive Training Solutions
Do you have many people to train and keep up to date with compliance, is it difficult for your staff to easily access your training staff for a consitent outcome?
At SDS, we are experienced developers of industry courses and online materials. Courses can be developed for routine site inductions, proficiency assessments and also more advanced industry professional courses where students require access to an onsite experience, but due to safety or logistic issues, cannot be easily or routinely taken on site. Simulations and training modules can be developed for any application where interaction and a well-developed understanding of the work environment is essential.
